Eco-Conscious Operations

Built to Recycle. Built to Last.

For over 22 years we've operated a closed-loop pallet recycling program — keeping pallets in circulation and out of PNW landfills.

The A-1 Recycling Loop

From Collection to Reintegration

Our 5-step closed-loop process ensures every pallet — regardless of condition — finds its highest-value use. Nothing goes to waste.

Collection & Pickup

We gather used pallets from warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities throughout the PNW — arranging convenient pickup or drop-off on your schedule. Our fleet runs daily collection routes across Washington and Oregon.

Daily Routes

Sorting & Grading

Every incoming pallet is inspected and sorted by condition grade. Our team classifies each unit as repairable, recyclable, or raw material — ensuring nothing goes to waste and every pallet finds its highest-value use.

3 Grade Levels

Repair & Restoration

Repairable pallets are restored to like-new condition using quality materials and skilled craftsmanship. Boards are replaced, nails reset, and every unit is inspected against our quality standards before it leaves the shop.

70% Cost Savings

Reintegration

Repaired pallets re-enter the supply chain, ready for full-load service. This closed-loop system reduces the demand for new lumber, lowers costs, and keeps pallets circulating instead of sitting in landfills.

Zero Waste

Material Recovery

Pallets beyond repair are broken down into raw materials. Usable lumber is reclaimed for manufacturing, and remaining wood is processed into mulch, biomass fuel, or animal bedding — nothing is wasted.

100% Utilized

Our Commitment

Why Sustainability Matters

Sustainability isn't a marketing line — it's how we've operated for 24+ years. Every decision we make considers its impact on the environment, our customers, and the communities we serve.

Landfill Diversion

Every pallet we repair is one fewer unit in a landfill. Our program keeps tens of thousands of pallets cycling through the supply chain each year, diverting hundreds of tons of wood waste from PNW landfills.

Reduced Carbon Footprint

Recycling a pallet uses a fraction of the energy required to manufacture a new one. By extending pallet life cycles, we reduce the logging, milling, and transportation emissions associated with new production.

PNW Environmental Stewardship

The Pacific Northwest's forests, rivers, and coastline are part of who we are. Our recycling operations reflect a deep commitment to protecting the region's natural landscape for the next generation.

Lumber Conservation

Every recycled pallet saves approximately 12 board feet of new lumber. Across our annual volume, that translates to thousands of trees left standing — a meaningful contribution to forest conservation.

Circular Economy Model

We operate on a true circular economy model: collect, repair, return. No pallet is single-use in our system. Materials flow continuously through repair, reuse, and recovery stages.

Supply Chain Efficiency

Recycled pallets reduce procurement costs by up to 70% compared to new. For high-volume operations, our recycling program delivers both environmental and financial returns from day one.

The A-1 Promise

Zero Pallets to Landfill

We operate on a simple principle: no pallet should end its life in a landfill. Pallets that can be repaired are restored. Pallets beyond repair are broken down and their materials reclaimed. Wood that can't be reused is converted to mulch, biomass fuel, or animal bedding.

The result is a truly zero-waste operation — one that's been running for over two decades across seven facilities in the Pacific Northwest. When you partner with A-1 Pallets, your supply chain is part of the solution.
